Present Your Requests to God

I was reading through Philippians this morning and came across a favorite verse of mine. Philippians 4:6 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." Growing up, I was always told to not be a gimme monster in prayer. I was told that prayer should not be about us and I always felt guilty when I was asking God about or for something. I have since changed my ideas about prayer. Prayer isn't about what I do or don't ask for. It isn't about making sure that if I ask God for 5 things that I thank Him for 5 things. It's a relationship and a continuous conversation; a conversation about life. I love this verse because God is saying "hey, don't worry about life but in all that you do, come talk to me about it. Do it with a thankful heart but yes, I want to hear your heart." That aspect of God is something that will always bring me back to Him. I love how life is one continuous conversation with Him. That each day is one conversation. I start talking to him early, usually around 5 or so.( I go to school early) and it keeps going until I am laying awake in bed that night, talking to Him. He is always there. Always listening. Always guiding. Songs or people that say God has left them annoy me. God never leaves you. He has promised that over and over again. It's we as humans that walk away. I'm thankful for God's consistency and heart for listening today.

I've actually been thinking a lot about this too lately. Thanks so much for sending the verse to me! I'm reading through Philippians too for bible study at school. It always reminds me that talking to God is almost like talking to my best friend. He's there for everything, and you thank him for everything, you can ask him about everything, he's always there. It's really cool (: thanks for this!
