Freak Can Be A Good Thing?

This term "Jesus Freak", brings interesting thoughts to mind. The first time I heard the term was in the forever awesome D.C. Talk song called "Jesus Freak" (which is an all time favorite of mine). I have been pondering what it means to BE a Jesus Freak. No one wants to be a freak, in fact people spend their whole lives trying to fit in and trying to not be a freak, but the Bible calls for a life that is holy. When I was little I never understood how to be holy. I never understood how a person could be holy if they couldn't be perfect. In highschool I learned that Holy doesn't mean perfect or sinless, it means set apart. How cool is that! Set apart is something we can attain with God's help. To the world, being set apart is weird. You stick out and people label you a freak. Hence the name "Jesus Freak". I think that's why I love the term so very much, because you are sticking for the only reason that matters, for God. I want to spend my life trying to figure out how to be that Jesus freak. The person that people look at say "They are so different, they aren't like everyone else but they seem happier and more content with their life. Why?" I'm not entirely sure what it means to stand out that much but i'm willing to try. I look around at the adults in my life and notice which ones stand out that much that people make note and question it. I love Romans 12:2 "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will." I want so badly to be the person that sticks out and looks different, but looks different in a way that could only point to the magnificent God that created me.
