Through the Eyes of Another
Have you ever reached that moment in your friendship with someone where you feel them opening up and letting you into their lives? I love that moment. I really believe God has put those moments in our lives to show us a little more about Him. In that moment you realize that there is no turning back, that they are begining to trust you, and that there is more to this person than just a face and a name. They are a human beings, alive, with emotions, feelings, love, anger, joy, and sadness. You start to see into their lives and it always makes me just say "Wow, God you create people so unique yet so relateable. That amazes me." I love that this moment can happen with anyone, no matter the age. I had one of those moments with some high schoolers on our grand canyon trip on the last day of driving. I was talking to two of them and they didn't seem to mind that other people were listening but were telling me things about what their home and school life is like and what their fears are. I was a little surprised that the students opened up like that when all I did was spend time with them. God showed me that it isn't about what I do, it's about what I allow Him to do through me. My friend and I were talking tonight and were discussing people and she was saying that the surface part of people annoys her but I was saying that people drive me. I love seeing what people are really like underneath. I love doing that at work too. I have some regulars and I know what they order but I love when somehow we end up talking about something other than pizza. It reveals a lot more about them. We are created in God's image and I love getting a glimpse of Him through people, especially students. He is too good to me.
